Classic Lash

This technique is when one lash extension is applied to one natural lash. The number of extensions applied will be in part determined by the desired look you would like to achieve as well as the number of natural lashes you have.  The more extensions applied will give you a more dramatic look while a few less will keep things more natural.  In addition to the number of extensions applied there are many options as far as the diameter (thickness), length and curl of the extensions.

You and your stylist will talk about your desired look and they will create a beautiful and safe customized set just for you.

Plan 1.5 – 2 hours for your initial full set.

Maintain your full set indefinitely with a ReLash every 2 – 3 weeks.

Volume Lash

This technique is the newest available and is also called Russian or 3D lash.  Just as the name suggests, we can create more volume. It provides a denser lash line and fluffier look.

With a much finer lighter lash your Boca Lash Stylist will create a fan of multiple extensions and apply it to one natural lash.  The fans are customizable and can be as few as 3 (or 3D) or as many as 15 (or 15D). Volume Lash will allow your stylist to be able to ADD lashes to your lash line.

You and your stylist will talk about your desired look and they will create a beautiful and safe customized set just for you.

Plan on 3.5 hours for your initial full set.

Maintain your full set indefinitely with a ReLash every 2 – 3 weeks.

The Boca Lash Difference –

Methods and Technique

Proper Isolation

When applying Classic or Volume lash extensions it is extremely important only one extension or fan is applied to one natural lash with no sticking side to side to other natural lashes.  Your Boca Lash stylist will isolate one natural lash between the tongs of the tweezers and hold for a second or two after the extension is applied to ensure it is only adhered to one natural lash.  When proper isolation of the natural lash is NOT done natural lashes will be stuck together.  This causes irritation and reduces the amount of natural lashes that can be used resulting in a less than full lash line. Working too quickly as well as releasing the isolated lash before the adhesive has dried will “grab” another natural lash near it and create sticking.

Importance

Isolation is important because natural lashes move and grow independently of each other.  If a slow growing natural lash is attached or stuck to a fast growing natural lash it will be pulled out.  When lashes are in their baby stage or Anagen stage this is the active growth phase; the natural lashes will grow their fastest until they reach the middle stage of growth or Catagen stage.  At this stage the natural lash has reached its’ fullest length and the hair follicle shrinks.  The resting phase, or the Telogen phase, is the last stage and the mature natural lash will be pushed out by a new baby lash. This process is somewhat similar to a baby tooth being pushed out by the adult tooth; however rather than this happening once during your life, this happens every 4-6 weeks.  Keep in mind, if a natural lash is pulled out during any stage the follicle still must go thru all three stages until a new lash pushes out.

When proper isolation technique is not practiced and natural lashes are adhered together, a natural lash that is in its growing stage will pull out prematurely a natural lash in its middle and resting stages.  This is of great importance to note because as with any hair follicle, if you continue to pull out that piece of hair the follicle WILL STOP producing a hair!

A couple of other things to note when isolation is not done properly

Firstly, you lash line will feel tight, itchy or have a pinching sensation much like when we pull the hair on our head too tight in a bun.  This can be mistaken by an inexperienced stylist as a sensitivity to the adhesive and you could be told you can’t wear extensions. Ultimately, the real issue could be the tug of a fast growing lash attached to that of a slow growing one.

Secondly, a stylist will have less natural lashes to put extensions on if you are sticking them all together.  This results in a set that is less than full or a spidery look.
